Then Sings My Soul

In 1885, a Swedish minister named Carl Boberg walked home along the coast after watching a thunderstorm break over the islands of Mönsterås. The storm passed, the sky cleared, and what he felt afterward was so much more than he could keep inside that he wrote it down as a poem. That poem became "How Great Thou Art," and the refrain begins with the line on this pillow, the soul's part in any moment like that one, even after grief, even after storms, when the heart simply refuses to stop singing.
